Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin condition characterized by periods of flare-ups and remissions. It typically presents as well-defined, reddish plaques covered with silvery-white scales and can affect various parts of the body, including the scalp, elbows, knees, and trunk. While psoriasis is primarily a skin disorder, it is increasingly recognized as a systemic condition with a strong association with metabolic health. Patients with psoriasis have a higher risk of metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease. The condition often worsens during the winter months due to reduced humidity and environmental triggers.

At Prime Skin Clinic, we believe that successful psoriasis management extends beyond treating the skin alone. Equal importance is given to identifying and addressing associated metabolic factors, lifestyle habits, and overall health, alongside medical treatment. Depending on the severity and extent of the disease, treatment may include topical medications such as corticosteroids, salicylic acid preparations, and calcipotriol to reduce inflammation and scaling. For patients with more extensive or persistent disease, oral medications such as methotrexate may be recommended under careful medical supervision. Our goal is to provide a personalized, long-term management plan that helps control symptoms, reduce relapses, and improve overall quality of life.
